Bookly legal

Privacy Policy

Effective 21 July 2026 · Version 2026-07-21

This policy explains how Bookly handles personal data under UK data-protection law.

Data we collect

We collect account details, contact information, authentication and security records, publication metadata, uploaded content, subscription and invoice references, reader-session events, approximate network/device information, support communications and service logs. Stripe receives payment-card details directly; Bookly does not store full card numbers.

Why we use it

We process data to provide and secure the service, perform contracts, bill usage, prevent fraud, maintain analytics, answer requests, comply with law and pursue legitimate interests in operating Bookly. Where consent is required, you may withdraw it.

Sharing and international transfers

Data may be shared with infrastructure, email, monitoring, analytics and payment providers, professional advisers and authorities where law requires. Suppliers may process data outside the UK using recognised safeguards. Current core payment processing is provided by Stripe.

Retention

Account and publication data is retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Billing records are retained for tax and legal obligations. Security logs and reader events are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, analytics and disputes.

Your rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, subject to legal exceptions. Contact [email protected]. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Security and children

We use access controls, encryption in transit, restricted administration and monitoring, but no online service is risk-free. Bookly publisher accounts are not directed to children under 13.
